Before the treatment, a local anesthetic cream is applied to the lip area. If desired, a local anesthetic injection can also be given to relieve pain. In addition, in my practice I only use high-quality preparations that already contain a pain-relieving anesthetic (lidocaine). Overall, our patients rate the treatment as relatively painless.
